The ASCC Train-the-Trainer (TTT) component equips medical educators and adoption professionals to successfully deliver the curriculum to hospital-based staff in person and virtually.
Online TTT Course
Trainers eligible to participate in online TTT course include experienced trainers who have administered previous versions of the UIA curriculum as well as new UIA 7 trainers. Following the TTT sessions, participants will be equipped to administer the UIA 7 curriculum to hospital-based staff in a variety of formats, including in-person, virtually, and self-paced in order to tailor the training to meet the needs and preferences of each hospital.
Interested UIA trainers can sign up for the TTT course which will require you to complete the 2.5 , 4.5, or 6.5 hour version of the course as a prerequisite. Upon completion of the TTT course, you will be invited to register for an Optional 30-Minute TTT Consult.

Additional TTT touchpoints with the ASCC project team or a fully customized TTT session that meets the needs of an individual or group can also be available. These sessions will be designed to engage trainers in learning and understanding the content of the curriculum and mastering the delivery of the curriculum (in-person, virtual, and self-paced). TTT process for experienced UIA trainers
This Train-the-Trainer process will be for trainers who have administered previous versions of the UIA curriculum. The session will:
- review/discuss the UIA curriculum, including changes to the UIA 7 version
- discuss in-person and virtual implementation of the curriculum
- discuss the UIA self-paced training process and how to integrate into hospital systems
- review administrative aspects of the UIA, such as marketing, recruiting participants, scheduling trainings, etc.
TTT process for new UIA trainers
New UIA trainers will be offered additional TTT touchpoints with the ASCC project team or a fully customized TTT session that meets the needs of an individual or group. These sessions will be designed to engage trainers in learning and understanding the content of the curriculum and mastering the delivery of the curriculum (in-person, virtual, and self-paced).
Trainer Eligibility
Trainers will ideally be knowledgeable in elements of the adoption process and experienced in providing adoption information and referrals according to the federal Infant Adoption Awareness Training Program (IAATP) best practice guidelines.
Become a UIA 7 Trainer
The ASCC project team is looking for both experienced Understanding Infant Adoption trainers and those new to the UIA curriculum. All those interested in participating in a TTT session are encouraged to contact the ASCC project team at info@hbasct.org.
