Curriculum

train-the-trainer

The ASCC Train-the-Trainer (TTT) component equips medical educators and adoption professionals to successfully deliver the curriculum to hospital-based staff in person and virtually.

Virtual TTT Sessions

Trainers eligible to participate in virtual TTT sessions include experienced trainers who have administered previous versions of the UIA curriculum as well as newly recruited and selected UIA 7 trainers throughout the nation. Following the TTT sessions, participants will be equipped to administer the UIA 7 curriculum to hospital-based staff in a variety of formats, including in-person, virtually, and self-paced in order to tailor the training to meet the needs and preferences of each hospital.

The ASCC project team will perform two different virtual TTT processes:
TTT process for experienced UIA trainers

This Train-the-Trainer process will be for trainers who have administered previous versions of the UIA curriculum. It will consist of one 3-hour webinar. Trainers will be required to read the modified UIA curriculum prior to the TTT session. The session will:

  • review/discuss the UIA changes,
  • discuss how the UIA changes impact in-person and virtual implementation of the curriculum,
  • discuss the UIA self-paced training process and how to integrate into hospital systems,
  • review administrative aspects of the UIA: marketing, recruiting participants, scheduling trainings, etc., and
  • answer questions.

This Train-the-Trainer process will be offered for adoption and health educators who have not trained the UIA curriculum before and who have at least 5 years’ experience with infant adoption, knowledge of adult learning techniques, and 2+ years’ experience training others. The TTT process will consist of 4–6 hours broken into two 2 to 3-hour live webinars. These sessions will be designed to engage trainers in learning and mastering the content of the curriculum and mastering the delivery of the curriculum (in-person, virtual, and self-paced).
